What we collect
We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, Social Security number or any other information that identifies you. The quiz asks for broad ranges only (for example, an income bracket or a credit score range).
When you use the site we record:
- Your quiz answers, stored as ranges and linked to a random visitor ID kept in your browser.
- Technical details sent by your browser: IP address, browser type, device type, approximate location (country and region) and the page that referred you.
- Campaign details in the link you followed, such as the ad campaign or the advertising platform's click ID.
How we use it
- To show you the card category that matches your answers.
- To measure which pages and advertising campaigns work, and to prevent fraud and automated traffic.
- To confirm with our partner whether a visit we referred led to a card application, so we can be paid a commission.
Cookies and advertising tools
We store a random visitor ID in your browser. We may also use advertising measurement tools from the platforms where our ads appear. These tools can set their own cookies and receive information about your visit, such as the pages viewed and buttons clicked, and they use it according to their own privacy policies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Who we share it with
When you click through to compare cards, you leave this site and go to our partner CardRatings. We pass a random click reference so the partner can tell us whether the visit led to an approved application. We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers that host and measure this site, only for those purposes. A list of these categories of providers is available on request.
Your choices
You can clear your browser storage to reset your visitor ID. California and other US state residents may request access to or deletion of information linked to their visitor ID by contacting us. Because we do not collect your name or contact details, we may need your visitor ID (shown in your browser's storage as "cm_vid") to find your records.
Retention
We keep visit and click records for as long as needed for reporting and commission reconciliation, and then delete or anonymize them.
